Honey Mustard Dressing
Preparation time
5 minutes
Yield:
Approximately 2 cups (500 mL)
INGREDIENTS
| 1 cup | Astro Original Balkan Style Plain yogourt | 250 mL |
| ¼ cup | dijon mustard | 60 mL |
| ¼ cup | honey | 60 mL |
| ¼ cup | cider vinegar | 60 mL |
| ½ tsp | salt | 2 mL |
| ¼ tsp | black pepper | 1 mL |
| 1 | clove garlic, minced | 1 |
| ¼ tsp | onion powder | 1 mL |
| ½ cup | vegetable oil | 125 mL |
PREPARATION
- In a blender or food processor add Astro yogourt, mustard, honey, vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder. Blend until smooth. While motor is running, slowly add vegetable oil. Can be used immediately. Cover and refrigerate any leftover dressing for up to two weeks. Dressing will thicken slightly after standing.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Make a Chicken Club Salad: toss together handful of lettuce leaves, a few cherry tomatoes, slice of red onion, chunks of cooked chicken, shredded Black Diamond Sharp Cheddar cheese, bacon bits and some Honey Mustard Dressing. Put this salad in a wrap for an easy on-the-go meal.
- As a dip for vegetables, spread for sandwiches, dressing or marinade.
- Replace Astro Original Balkan Style Plain yogourt for any other Astro Plain yogourt. Using a lower fat yogourt will result in a thinner dressing.
- Replace Astro yogourt with drained Astro yogourt for a thicker, creamier dressing. Place 2 cups (500 mL) of Astro yogourt in a coffee filter or cheesecloth-lined strainer. Let stand over a bowl for about 2 hours. Discard accumulated liquid. Measure required drained yogourt. Any remaining drained Astro yogourt can be kept covered and refrigerated for up to one week.
- Replace Dijon mustard for another mustard for a slightly different flavour.
